Tubular Pumps (Peristaltic Pumps) for Abrasive, Oily, and Chemically Demanding Fluids

Peristaltic pumps are one of the most versatile types of pumps used in industrial fluid transfer. They enable precise metering and transfer of challenging fluids, such as abrasive, oily, and chemically aggressive liquids —all without seals and without leakage. These pumps are characterized by precise flow rate control and are particularly well-suited for applications that require high pumping accuracy .
Peristaltic pumps

Why Choose Peristaltic Pumps from HARTON Anlagentechnik GmbH?

Technical Excellence
Our hose pumps (peristaltic pumps) offer high flow accuracy and reliable performance, even under extreme conditions. They are ideal for challenging applications where other types of pumps reach their limits.
Durability and Efficiency
Thanks to the use of high-quality materials such as Viton, EPDM, and Santoprene , our pumps offer exceptional resistance to aggressive fluids, resulting in a long service life and low operating costs .
Easy Maintenance
Our peristaltic pumps are characterized by low maintenance requirements, since the pumped medium comes into contact only with the tubing. This means fewer wear parts and faster maintenance procedures.

Products

Tubing pumps, or peristaltic pumps, are positive-displacement pumps in which the fluid is moved by squeezing the tubing along its axis. The fluid comes into contact only with the tubing material and, depending on the design, with the fittings.

Types and Variants of Our Hose Pumps (Peristaltic Pumps)

Technical System Overview for Industrial Applications

The industrial dosing and transfer of challenging fluids require systems that combine absolute leak-tightness with high precision. Peristaltic pumps represent a key technological component in this context, as they function as hermetically sealed positive-displacement pumps in which the pumped medium comes into contact exclusively with the pump tubing. In chemical process engineering, water treatment and environmental technology, food and pharmaceutical production, as well as in mining and heavy industry , these units ensure process stability when handling abrasive, viscous, or shear-sensitive fluids. HARTON Anlagentechnik GmbH designs these pump systems as integral components of complex plant concepts.
High-Pressure Peristaltic Pumps (Sliding Shoe Technology)
These lubricating oil-filled heavy-duty pumps are designed for pressures up to 16 bar. The operating principle is based on solid sliding shoes that compress the hose over a large surface area. Thanks to the even load distribution, the elastomer is subjected to less localized stress than with rollers, which optimizes service life under extreme pressures.

In HARTON’s design, we place special emphasis on thermal management, as sliding friction generates heat that must be dissipated via the lubricant bath. This variant is the preferred choice for abrasive slurries in the mining industry.

Low-Pressure Peristaltic Pumps (Roller Technology)
Unlike the sliding-shoe design, the hose is compressed here by rotating rollers. Since the rollers roll over the hose, friction is minimal, which allows for lubricant-free (dry) operation of the pump housing.

Our engineers design these pumps primarily for food and pharmaceutical production, as there is no risk of contamination from lubricating oil in the event of a hose rupture. The design typically incorporates reinforced roller bearings to ensure maximum process stability.

Peristaltic Pumps with Vacuum Assistance
For highly viscous fluids that cannot return to their original shape quickly enough on their own, we use the vacuum version. In this process, a vacuum is created inside the pump housing, which actively “stretches” the hose.

We place particular emphasis on this technology when pumping viscous fluids in environmental engineering. Without the vacuum, the fill level of the chamber would drop when handling viscous fluids, which would destabilize the flow rate control.

Medium viscosityup to 50,000 mPas

Relevance for Engineers and Technical Buyers

Design Criteria
When specifying the product, the ratio of rotational speed to hose diameter is critical. High rotational speeds reduce service life exponentially. HARTON recommends rotational speeds below 40 rpm for continuous operation in industrial applications.
Procurement-Related Specifications
Purchasers should check the availability of elastomer materials. We maintain inventory of EPDM, nitrile rubber (NBR), Hypalon (CSM), and natural rubber (NR) to meet short-notice replacement needs.
Standards &
Test Requirements
All systems manufactured by HARTON Anlagentechnik GmbH are produced in accordance with the Machinery Directive. If required, validation is performed in accordance with ATEX (explosion protection) or FDA (food safety) standards, including material certificates in accordance with EN 10204-3.1.
